The 5th Session of the Regional Committee of UN-GGIM Americas was held within the framework of the Latin America Geospatial Forum in Mexico City, from 6 to 8 November 2018. On this occasion, a representative of the UN-GGIM Secretariat introduced the SALB programme to 85 statisticians and geospatial managers from 33 Member States from the Americas.

The Working Group on Fundamental Geospatial Data Themes convened a Side Event on their work at the Eight Session (2018) of the Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM).
The 3rd Meeting of GGIM Africa was organised concurrently with AfricaGIS 2017, both events were hosted by the Economic Commission for Africa, in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia during the last week of November 2017.
The SALB was invited by the Economic Commission for Africa in the context of the Expert Group Meeting on Standards and for the GGIM Africa Plenary.
The conference held in New York, 8-17 August 2017 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations Conferences on the Standardization of Geographical Names. In recognition of this milestone, the UNGEGN Bureau planned a number of events to celebrate the work and achievements of UNGEGN and UNCSGN.
European data from official national sources compiled and harmonized prepared through EuroGeographics is to be included in the Second Administrative Level Boundaries (SALB) programme.
EuroGeographics represents National Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registry Authorities from the whole of geographical Europe, provided its 1:1 million scale topographic open dataset, EuroGlobalMap to assist the project’s aim of compiling global administrative boundaries data from authoritative sources.
The Second Administrative Boundaries (SALB) programme returns and was presented on 01 August 2017 at the Side Events of the Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM). The concept note for the SALB Side Event was advertised on the UN-GGIM website for its Seventh Session proceedings.
